I think this can make humans completly dull. One essential marketing strategy is to create a feeling of something missing and emptyness in customers, which they can fill up when buying or updating., etc. I think sometimes one should be very careful and better use what's already within reach. So many products get marketed that way nowadays. If those FL updates are so tempting that we always have to install them immediately to feel better or saver or whatever, it could be that we fell for their marketing trick to make us believe exactly that.
